What is South African Airways like?

Hi! We usually fly KLM for inter-continental travel but this time we're trying South African airways. Does anyone know how the 2 would compare in recent years? Or compare Continental to SA Airways?
Thanks!
Elginah

The SAA plane takes off and it lands. What else do you really need to know?
It's just another silver bullet flying thru the skies - all the same.

sandi - why respond if you can't answer the question?

Elginah - I have not personally flown SAA, but a friend in Atlanta recently flew SAA Business Class to South Africa. She thought the airline was comparable to KLM (whom she has flown to Africa several times), but she preferred the straight shot from ATL to JNB on SAA.

I've flown KLM, SAA, CO and others. In coach there isn't much difference - they take off, you have a drink, eat a meal, watch a movie, sleep, and land. There have been times that KLM was outstanding (pleasant crew, clean planes, decent food, not full), at other times, terrible. CO has been better then KLM, but some times good and other times just so so. As to SAA, they've been constant on the flights to/fr South Africa (JFK/JNB/CPT).

Didn't SAA just show in the top 3 of a ranking of business class service? I think they are joining Star Alliance soon.
