What is a reasonable airfare between NYC and London

My DD and SIL who live in NYC have just had their O1 visa's renewed but if the leave the US the visas have to be validated either back here in NZ or in London, apparently they can't be validated in Canada.

The airfare between NYC to NZ is probably more expensive than NYC to Heathrow, but am not sure what the average fare would be to the UK. Is there a time of year which would be cheaper, any advice would be appreciated.

Winter will be cheapest. Right now, prices are high, and $800 or so would be a decent price. Something like $500 or $600 would be a better deal, but I'm not sure when we will see those kinds of prices again.
