WHAT AIRLINE PAINT JOBS DON'T YOU LIKE?

This is the other side of the coin, I know, but the discussion about the best airline paint schemes made me think about the depressing ones I have seen: United, you win! ;-)

Which of the three existing United ones are you referring to?

I don't like the Air Jamaica colors.

Do you see it when you are flying?

I don't like United's dirty brown color. I think they use it on their Airbus planes. Just curious, when they paint a plane, do they remove the old paint first? A lot of paint could add to the weight of a plane.

UA's never used brown color. The UA liveries you can see now are the battleship grey (94-03), the blue tulip (03-10) and the Continental globe (10-current). Before that was the rainbow (74-93).

And yes, they strip all the old paint before repainting.

<> Wally might be referring to TED, although I would call it more yellow than brown

I think some of the chinese airlines such as China Southern, Eastern are pretty uninspiring and make the aircraft look old, even when they are virtually brand new

I'd call the TED color orange.

I find the Southwest livery quite ugly. Aer Lingus is an ugly shade of green. I hate the font on Continental, but it is otherwise an okay livery - the serif font on such a blank plane just doesn't work.

Most of the special liveries are awful, with the CO Peter Max plane being especially bad, since it involves Peter Max.

Yes, it is the grey that I don't like. Too dark in my opinion. Many of their 757's are painted in white and blue which looks better, IMO.

Haha, Peter Max. That was the most funky paint job on an aircraft, in my opinion, along with QF's "Wunala Dreaming".

wally - Don't worry, United is quickly repainting all their aircraft to the CO Globe livery. Already about 1/3 done...
