Virgin America
Hi! Wondering if anyone has flown with Virgin America? Thinking of flying them to San Diego from JFK in August and flying back to JFK from SFO.
I am hoping that they are better than the standard US carriers in terms of service, on-time record etc etc.,
Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Yes, I flew them about a month ago. They are a new airline, so they're going the extra mile to make sure things work well. I'd rate them similar to JetBlue, but with an edge. New planes, black leather seats, live TV & games, seat to seat text messaging.
I flew SAN - SFO, so it was a short, uneventful flight. They don't have many landing slots at JFK yet, so they're not a big operation out of NY right now.
They're too new to have a long term on-time record. Like any other carrier they will be at the mercy of NYC air traffic at times, including weather or other ATC delays.

FWIW, first class on VX is a hoot. Full international-class on-demand video, pure Branson-ish mood lighting and good in-flight service. Had the single best airline lunch entree ever on a flight between SEA and LAX a month ago.

Their FC section is in great demand, especially for the trans-con. But they only have 8 seats up front.
The rear of the plane has pretty low load factor right now. Which means the middle-seat is unlikely to be occupied, which is another plus.
If you're not tied to any particular airline's FF program and miles, then sure you should give it a shot.
They have enough funding, so no immediate risk of shutting down.
