Hi All,

I recently flew Vietnam Airlines from HCMC to Hanoi. We had booked the tickets online from Australia and the flight was $180 AUD for a one way business class ticket. The flight, the food, the crew and the overall experience was great however the only issue we had was when we went to check in we didnt have the credit card with us that was used to pay for the tickets. We had to then go to the booking counter and buy new tickets with our card and when we return home in a few weeks we have to go through an online process and obtain a refund. Hopefully there is no hassles with doing this, fingers crossed!

Just thought Id let everyone know incase you plan to fly with them!

Thanks for the heads up. Someone else posted a similar experience recently. I believe it also was in Asia. Good to know Vietnam Airlines was satisfactory.

This rule is in place for almost all airlines, including US airlines. But it is rarely invoked.

In your case, a one way business class ticket raised the suspicion and they properly checked.

We flew VN several times last year and not once did they as us to produce the cc I used to pay for the tixs. Seems they are not constant with this...... Thanks for the heads up. We like you thought VN a great airline.

We had an excellent flight with VN from Shanghai to Hanoi and were not asked for the credit card.It's wise to be prepared.

We flew from Hanoi to Yangon last fall on VN Airlines and were asked to show the credit card we used for our online booking. I recall reading that several others on this site also were asked to do this. To avoid problems, I strongly recommend having the credit card available in case they request it.

It does depend on your situation though. Being a young couple we paid off the credit card and disposed of it a few months ago and the airline ticket was booked 6 months prior to that. Working for an airline here in Australia, you dont need to show your credit card. Never we mind, wasnt too much of a hassle but wanted to give fellow travellers a heads up!

I paid for some flight ( on silk air) last year using a cc which I later had to-replace ( I still had the original) I kept it just incase they asked me to show it when we checked in, which they did, so I am glad I had it..... As LMF says, always best to be aware and seems different airlines do different things. I have flown Eva air from London to BKK for about 7 years and last year was the first time they asked to see my cc.

And all worked out well, we were fully refunded the money from the original ticket we had purchased. Impresssed!

I just booked a one-way ticket from HAN to SGN. When I checked prices on www.kayak.com they were around $400. I went to their website and it was 1,404,000! but that is around $77.00 USD. They are using a Boeing 777 and serving dinner in economy class for the two hour flight.

When I saw the price on www.kayak.com, I started checking the prices for the train.

I just got my upgrade from United to Business Class for October 16 from Hong Kong to San Francisco. This upgrade came almost three months early, not that I'm complaining.

Forgot to mention, when I printed my ticket it says make sure you bring your credit card that was used to purchase the ticket.

I booked the ticket with an agent, they are www.vietnamflightcentre.com and had no problem. Even i requested a flight change and they support very fast. Good services.

I booked a few internal business class airfares with Vietnam airlines and I too was very pleasantly surprised.

I did read the conditions on the ticket that said you needed to show the card you purchased the tickets with on check in. I was prepared but was not asked to show my credit card in Vietnam.
