Using US Air Miles on United flights

Does anyone know if when you use USAir miles for a United flights it is done at the United mileage level (i.e., 50,000 for flight to Europe) or at the US Air level, which appears to be 100,000 for the available US Air flight?

If you're using US Airways miles, you have to book through US Airways at its mileage levels--you go by the rules of its FF program.

If you find UA seats for 50K miles on united.com, you should be able to get those for 50K "saver award" using USAirways Dividend miles.

50K is the standard award level for Star Alliance award between N. America and Europe.

What do you mean by 'US Air level, which appears to be 100,000 for the available US Air flight?'

100K usually is the premium level. http://tinyurl.com/yngpq9

Are you saying that the 'Mileage Saver' award is not available? I feel the 'Premium' level is usually not worth it, unless you have a zillion points.

That is exactly what it was Jed. I am already comfortably booked on my direct IAD-CDG United flights (used United miles). The people I am meeting in Paris are using US Air miles and ideally wanted to use them to meet at Dulles and take the same flight I am on. Evidently, US Air cannot yet "see" the United seats available, but I have creatively held tickets for everyone using US Air miles on Air Canada. Ugh
