Using FF miles with two airlines

Has anyone ever used FF miles of one airline going over to Europe and miles from another airline on the return flight?

I noticed that Continental could get me over to Paris on Air France in June for 25,000 miles but they can't get me back in July for 25,000 miles, but BA could.

I've flown different carriers for outbound and return, but it was a partner airline. Continental will allow you to redeem a one way ticket (or at least has in the past.) Does BA allow you to redeem a one-way reward ticket?
Have you checked for flights on CO partner airlines? They don't always show up online, btw, you may need to call OnePass.

CO would not let you use 25,000 for a one-way reward to Europe. You will spend 50K whether you come back or not.

I did it! I booked a ticket from Orlando to London, round-trip using only 50,000 miles with Continental Airlines. I'll be flying directly on Virgin Atlantic. I'm leaving on June 16 and returning on July 14. I really don't know where I want to go in Europe next summer, but with Easy Jet's strong presence at Gatwick, and schedules out in a few months, I have time to think.

Just a few things: I tried to book Miami to Paris on Air France and returning London to Orlando on Virgini Atlantic. Continental wouldn't let me do that. When I called I was told I need to return to the same airport as I departed from. Why?

The round-trip flight to London cost me $110.50 USD. Fees included:

U.S. Immigration user fee $7.00
U.K. Passenger Service Charge $19.20
U.S. APHIS User Fee $5.00
U.S. Customs User Fee $5.50
U.S. Security Service Fee: $2.50
U.K. Air Passenger Duty $71.30

Can I do my seat assignments with Virgin Atlantic now? When I try to do them with Continental, they don't take.

Call VS. CO can't do it for you, but VS should be.

For future reference, another kind poster on this board suggested this website: http://www.skyteam.com/skyteam. It provides flight info for all the SkyTeam airlines, including Continental, NW, Air France and Delta. I am going to Greece on NW FF miles next week. When our flight schedules changed and NW gave us a horrible return itinerary I used the site to figure out options and then called NW. They were able to rebook our return on more convenient Delta flights. Next time we use miles we will explore options using this site and then call NW and see what they can do.
