Going back to this topic apparently our upcoming CO reward reservations booked since 8/2008 on AF were deleted then replaced (we just found out by chance) and along with that went our original seat reservations necessitating us to get whatever is left. AF won't admit it but I do feel they bump passengers with reward tickets from other airlines. An AF agent tried explaining it can happen to full fare paying passengers. Funny thing is another AF agent blamed CO for the mistake.

The CO/AF itinerary-dropping problem had been reported many times on flyertalk. I started a thread about it myself. They had promised to fix it for months, but it's still there. With CO leaving Skyteam on 10/24, I doubt they'll ever have that fixed.

I used AA miles on a flight last April on a Mexicana flight, and it was right in the midst of the issue with all the MD-80 planes. Lots of flights were getting canceled, including the one I had booked on the way home, but I didn't have any problems getting put on another flight. I think you'll be fine.

Now I know why last August when I was searching for dates the AF reward tickets didn't seem to be as popular as the CO ones.
Neither airline wants to take blame, but I am sure it's AF's fault since the new res. numbers begin with '4' just like the original res. numbers. If they really give low priority or no priority to partner airline reward ticket holders they ought not to participate in the program because they've no regard. |
