Using american voucher

AAFrequentFlyer or anyone else,
I'm trying to use an American voucher for an upcoming flight but can't quite figure out how to do it. What number do I use, the passenger ticket # or the exchange # and where to i input it on the American page?
Thanks

If it is a voucher you recieved at the airport book the flight as a hold then call reservations with voucher number. They will put reservation through as a purchase. If it is not for the total amount of the voucher you will receive a new voucher with the new balance. We once used a voucher for 3 separate flights

Is it an e-Voucher?

If it is then all you have to do is book the flight(s) on AA.com and then input the voucher # and pin # during the payment process. The amount will be deducted from the fare and you'll only have to pay any difference.

If it is a paper voucher then you need to do as posted above but I believe, after you talk to the rep, you will need to either go to the nearest AA airport or mail the voucher to some small town in Florida before AA will ticket the reservation.

I just redeemed a paper voucher for two tickets. I got my information from FlyerTalk (an excellent resource). After you put your reservation on hold, call Web Services at 1.800.222.2377. Provide them with your PNR (record locater) and explain that you want to pay with a voucher. You need to provide the amount of the voucher and the voucher expiration date. The agent will then provide instructions on where to send the voucher. The address is: American Airlines, Box 109, 6223 Highway 90, Milton, Florida 32570-1708. Under the return address, provide your last name, the first flight number, and the date of the flight. The agent will then change your reservation to purchased. After you voucher is received and processed, your reservation will change to ticketed and AA will email you your eticket.

I always send my voucher, a cover letter, and a copy of my reservation to AA via certified, signature requested mail.

If your voucher amount is more than the ticket amount, you will receive the balance in another voucher. If your voucher is less than the ticket, then you must provide a credit card number for the additional payment.

BTW - you have to redeem the voucher before the expiration date. You do NOT have to fly before the voucher expires, you DO have to redeem the voucher. For example, my voucher (for lost luggage) expires June 28, 2009. I used it to purchase two tickets (one in my name and one in a companion's name) for a July 2009 flight.

If your voucher's expiration date is less than two weeks away, you may have to redeem it at the airport since there may not be sufficient time for AA to receive and process the voucher before it expires. You may pay a fee at the airport. If you mail the voucher, there is no fee.

Quasim, this thread is over 8 years old. Things could have changed so don’t rely on the advice here; start you own thread.
