I read about that flight and wondered why people weren't wearing their seat belts. I know you don't always have to wear them, but it's definitely a good idea, especially now that you know what can happen.

I must have missed something. What happened?

Turbulence.

On our flight to Kauai last year, the flight attendants told of a flight earlier in the month in which the turbulence was so bad several people were injured, including a flight attendant who broke leg.

I always leave my seat belt on, planes have experienced sudden drop turblence and people can be hurt that way. This is especially true for children, which is why we never tried to save money by taking our kids on flights without their own seats( lap babies) . They were in their own seats and in their carseats when infants.

This incidence is unusual because many people were hurt , some quite badly, but people are hurt by turblence more often then you think.
