USAir Miles and Change fee

Somewhat of a long story, but I need to change my tickets that I bought with miles on USAir. Just want to change to exact same flights one week earlier. There is availability and it will cost me an extra 15K miles (not happy about that but ok with it). The real problem is they also want a $150 per ticket fee to make the change. Does anyone know a way around this fee? Thanks!

Nope, if that's their fee, that's it and just got to suck it up.

It's beginning to look like that. I was just holding out hope that someone knew a way to make a successful case to have it waive. I'll wait a day or two to see if anyone else here has some ideas (a guy can dream, right?)

If you're going to a funeral of your close relatives, or serious illness, etc; then they may waive it for you.

What's the cost to just redepoist the miles and start over? Can you get the flights you want that way? I have done that on Delta.

Unfortunately they are telling me it's $150/ticket to re-deposit. Unbelievable really.

Unbelievable?

Given the massive losses that airlines are posting this year?

Many companies charge restocking fees.

$300 is a bit much. USAir is BY FAR the highest fee out there. I have not problem paying a fee, but that on top of the fees I already paid on "two free tickets" (which I don't get back, and will be charged again when they re-issue new tickets) is a bit accessive. The two other airlines I have FF with are not even close to that amount. That is the unbelievable part

It is really annoying. I got some amount of grief here a few weeks back because I "wasted" 50,000 miles to fly dtr within US home for Thanksgiving. But that high mileage usage allowed her to change the flight several times prior to travel dates for free - sort of like paying more for a refundable ticket. Miles seem to be less and less useful as time passes.

Well I have redeposited two award tickets on Delta recently and didn't pay for either of them. So.. it was worth suggesting!

My DH is in France now and decided he wanted to come home on Fri.,12/12 instead of Mon. 12/15. Called Delta and it was a $l00 fee to change. I was pleased with that being he went on sky miles. No problem.
