Upgrades on your Honeymoon?

My fiance and I have purchased our tickets for out Spain/Portugal honeymoon in June '04. We are currently flying on Delta. Does anyone know what the chances are of us being upgraded on this trip if you mention that we are on our honeymoon?
thanks

I'd say chances are slim, unless one or both of you are Delta frequent flyers with lots of miles to your credit. Everyone wants an upgrade, and paying for it is the only "sure way"

Upgrades???

Do they happen? YES

Is it automatic for honeymooners? NO

Also, FYI, June in Portugal will be a mad house. The EURO2004 will start on June 12 with the final game on July 4th. There will be hundreds of thousands of soccer fans from the 16 European countries involved plus many soccer fans from all over the world(including :-D ). It will be fun, but if you're looking for some quiet time, that's not the time to be in Portugal. Hotel rooms will be hard to get, public transportation wil be packed and loud, etc...etc...

If you really want to be upgraded, you have to do it the legitimate way--use miles. On Delta, only certain higher priced tickets are even eligible for upgrade--the cheapest tickets are not upgradable. In June last year, I upgraded 2 tickets to Paris on Delta--least expensive that is eligible for upgrade was $1500 per person--worth it for me. And it will cost you 25,000 miles per person each way.

If you have some miles; but, not quite enough for an upgrade, check out www.miles4sale.com I had a Delta miles, but not enough for a business class ticket. I bought a enough miles to cover the difference and got a business class ticket to Peru on Delta for less than a coach ticket would have cost me.

I travel frequently and I would have to say the chances of someone waxing romantic and giving you and upgrade are pretty slim.

I agree with all the above responses about upgrades to first class. My only thought would be if you were still in your wedding dress. If they had room they MIGHT put you up front.
