Thanks for the definitive answer, Kuranosuke!

Kathie - too late now, but when elite status increases the way to get the new higher status to reflect on existing records is to remove the FF # from the record and then add it back in. If Cheryl has any other reservations in the system for future travel try this.

And kuranosuke is absolutely correct - companion gets same status.

I'm sitting in Changi Airport....called United several times over the past few days, but never did reach a customer service rep. Went through the whole automated voice thing several times and when I finally got it to understand I wanted to speak to a person, I was told to call back. Thought I was making progress yesterday, held for 15 minutes, but finally hung up, as I live in Australia and was paying for the call.

Today spouse received his gold card and a notice giving him the option of nominating someone (which he'd already done months ago). He went to the website they referred him to, and discovered it's down until sometime in April. I'm traveling right now, so this doesn't help me much...I'll see if I can sort it out while I'm in the US, but I'm not optimistic at this point.

I've been saying 1K, but I really mean million miler I guess...haven't sorted out the lingo yet.

There will not be any new nominations until April. That's true. The site is not yet ready for that. As far as status on line, my DHs changed immediately to 1K (which matches MY status as a MM). But his boarding pass for our flight 17/18th to Zurich showed silver. And, his name was dropped from the waitlist for upgrade to biz. Oh well... hopefully all the bugs get ironed out sometime soon.

The MM status match cards (packets) are supposedly being mailed out the end of March. That will include the new status level, which you can see on line, but not yet on boarding passes. I was told that boarding passes would not show the change for several days, at least.

We fly home in early April. By then, DHs new packet and 1K card should be in the mail (but at home....so we won't have it here).

Clearly, the integration is taking longer than United anticipated. So Melnq8, you can call Mileage Plus customer service when you get to the US and they will be able to update your status online, but who knows when the status will be updated in the rest of the system so your boarding pass shows your status. And I'm guessing that your boarding pass would have to show your status to be eligible for upgrades. Good Luck!

Well, something magical happened while I was enroute from Singapore to Lax - checked into the Lax Red Carpet Club, began to explain the situation and was handed a boarding pass that showed me as PE Gold. Just checked my account, and sure enough it's there now. No idea what prompted the correction, unless it was the lovely woman in the SQ lounge in Perth who said she'd look into it. Problem solved, card probably on the way.

BTW - the 15 hour flight from SIN-LAX on SQ 38 was incredible, just incredible. It was all business class, only 98 seats on board, only 55 of which were occupied. I'd pre-ordered my meals through their book the cook program and the food was excellent. Truly, I kid you not. I got about seven hours of sleep and arrived feeling human for the first time in recent memeory. I may write a trip report for the flight, complete with photos, it was that good.

I'm so glad it worked out! And I love your report on the SQ flight. I've been thinking about booking their round the world biz class ticket as a retirement gift... but that is still two years away!

Oh, that warms my heart on this early and warm Singapore morning. Beautiful writing Mel and glad you savoured a sweet SIA ride. (Will you be flying that equally fine SQ37 non-stop back to SIN?) I haven't flown SQ 37/38 all that often for work (SFO is my main N. America business travel port), but all flights, so efficient and memorable.

(And glad you partook of Book the Cook. Lobster thermidor has been a long standing favourite of mine, along with some truly fine Japanese BTC entrees flying ex-NRT. Have never been much of a 'foodie', but on more than a few SQ business trips, I'll indulge with the BTC.)

Have fun Mel and thanks for your impressions. Puts me in a fine frame of mind for a rapidly approaching SQ trip, SIN-MEL, involving flying up front with some soon to be retired SIA Megatops (B747s). I've always loved flying those big SQ birds.

Sorry to briefly hijack your thread, Kathie. Congrats on reaching million mile status with UA. (UA was kind enough to post a congratulatory packet - and those luggage tags - when I reached the MM threshold a few years back.) And, I can't think of a better way for you to celebrate retirement by flying business class around the world with those sensational SQ crews. More than happy to offer suggestions. (I've already lured some family members, friends and cousins into doing just the same.)

Warm wishes and fine flights to all,

macintosh (robert)

Ah Robert, I can't help but think of you every time I fly SQ. Unfortunately, I'll only be flying SQ from SIN-PER on the return, as I'll be returning via SFO and Bejing. I'd redeemed UA frequent flyer miles for this trip and because it was booked last minute, my options were quite limited. I felt pretty darn lucky to get what I did.
