United equipment change

When a carrier makes an equipment change on a flight 6 months out, how likely is it to change again - back to original plane?

J62 Nov 30th, 2015 06:56 AM

37% likely

I have no clue, except to say that 6 months is an eternity in airline time.

janisj Nov 30th, 2015 08:43 AM

in 6 months they are likely to change the equipment AND the schedule . . . more than once.

love the 37%

thanks all

Equipment is never guaranteed. If you are concerned about changing to a smaller aircraft with fewer seats in first class resulting in your being downgraded, one strategy is to reserve a seat toward the front of the cabin. If you are in row 5 and the new plane has only 4 rows in FC, you're more likely to wind up in cattle class. It's no sure bet, as sometimes a higher elite status passenger will be given priority, but it can help.

If you tell us the flight and route, then we may be able to tell if it's closer to 36.5% or 37.5%.

if its ua, all bets are off.

kuranosuke Nov 30th, 2015 10:43 PM
