United 757 plunges 20,000 feet over the Atlantic en route from DC to London

A London-bound passenger plane had to divert to Canada while halfway across the Atlantic after dropping more than 20,000 feet. ...............(more)

The complete story is at: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-Atlantic.html

That is hardly a credible newspaper. There was no plunging, and the plane made a safe descend and diverted. End of story.

It seems there was an engine failure. According to a United spokesperson there were only 50 passengers on board.

Interesting United's web site is down at the moment for updating. Airfares to Europe have been dropping in the past few days.

United's web site is back up. For select dates starting after August 25 you can get tickets from Washington DC to either Paris or Geneva for under $900. It had been more like $1200 just a few days ago. Air France also has a good sale going on now.
