UK Registered Traveller program

I received an email today from the US Customs and Border Protection telling me about this UK program since I have global entry.

"Membership in Registered Traveller include the following benefits:
· Access to ePassport gates at airports across the country
· Use of the UK / European Union queue at airports across the country
· A dedicated Registered Traveller lane at Gatwick Airport
· Not needing to complete a landing card on arrival to the UK
· No credibility interview with a Border Force officer."

Anyone heard of this/use it?

I don't go to the UK often enough to make it worth the 70 pound fee.

I applied as we visit London every year or so, but was denied as I don't go 4x or more a year. I would have jumped at it as GE has made our overseas returns a breeze.

Wow - you need to go 4x a year to qualify? Useful information!

HappyTrvlr Dec 13th, 2015 02:36 PM

I have received this message several times and didn't realize that you needed to visit the UK four times per year either.

I looked into it but over the last 4-ish years I've only visited the UK 2-3 times a year so I just figured I wouldn't qualify so didn't pursue it.

Yes the invite stated so, but u
I thought it was just a guideline so I applied. I received a denial a few days later for that reason.

After we get extra pages added to our passports, this will be the next thing we do.

abram Dec 14th, 2015 06:24 AM

DH got that email, too--and he hasn't been to the UK in years.

txgirlinbda Dec 15th, 2015 10:52 AM

Sparkchaser, aren't they ending the extra pages option by the end of the year? Better hurry!

Kathie Dec 15th, 2015 11:42 AM

Yup, the state dept will stop putting in extra pages after the end of the year. In the future, opt for the longer passport if you often visit countries that require a couple of pages for visa and stamps.

I got an invite for the UK's program as well as Mexico's. I do not visit either of these countries often enough to justify the trouble and expense.

Our appointment is Dec 29.

I looked at this. My take is that it is only worth it if you frequently fly to the UK in coach and don't have elite status. If you fly in a premium cabin or have appropriate elite status, Fast Track will likely be faster than the e-gates anyway.

sparkchaser Dec 22nd, 2015 05:51 AM

How does one with status use this "Fast Track" at MAN? I have not seen it.

travelgourmet Dec 22nd, 2015 05:57 AM

I guess I was thinking primarily of LHR, as I rarely arrive at any other UK airport. To that end, I'd extend my statement to say it would be worth it if you routinely fly into an airport without Fast Track immigration and where the immigration lines are typically long.
