UA flight booked as Lufthansa is cheaper
I bought a ticket today at ual.com, WAS - MUC roundtrip dep. March 27, ret. April 1. For $303, I got two Lufthansa nonstops (9281/9280) "Operated by United Airlines Inc".

The web page offers a $409 option of United flights 952/953, both of them departing at exactly the same times as the LH flights.

What gives? Is it taxes?
Codeshare flights can be frightening.Which is what you have booked. It is a United airplane. But Lufthansa has bought "x" number of seats at sell as Lufthansa seats. With codeshares it varies.Sometimes the "hoest" airline-in this case the UA flight is actually less than the codeshare--Lufthansa.Sometimes its the other way around. Its just pricing thats all.
The ticket arrived yesterday. It shows a price of $409. No charge has been posted to my account yet (a Visa check card), and the 409 will bounce if it posts today.

What do you mean by "frightening".
I dont mean to be alarmist.Everytime I have been on one internationally, there are scores of travellers who have not been made aware of the fact that it is in fact a "codeshare" flight.I.e., a United airplane but their ticket says Lufthansa.Just general confusion and not frightening to me but to others.Sorry for the porr choice of words.

Several times I have found the lowest fares on Northwest Airlines flights by purchasing tickets from Continental.

Keith
