UA at IAD -- changes in store?

I just found out that UA is no longer flying direct to EZE from IAD. I also had read something about stopping flights to Oakland. So I am wondering does anyone know if UA has plans to scale back from IAD?

You may see some changes but it's not cutting back at IAD. For example, they're starting IAD-MAN, and IAD-HNL. The EZE flight is being transferred to EWR. In general, the routes that you may see cut are those that are NOT YET served from EWR, which IS the main international hub for the new UA on the E. Coast.

So EWR will be the hub? that's pretty bad -- EWR is notorious for delays and cancellations due to weather. Sorry to learn this

EWR IS the main international hub for United on the East Coast. That's where the money is, and where United makes its money. But IAD is safe. If they're going to cut back on capacity, most will but cut from CLE.

OAK will be gone. It's only getting a few flights from DEN anyways. SFO is the main hub, so little reason to use OAK at all. Remember that CO stopped flying to JFK altogether.

A lot of UA flights seem to connect in Houston now ? Is this not a good option instead of Newark ?

There has been no major changes with routes since the merger. IAH was the largest hub on CO and is the largest for the new UA. IAD was the E. Coast hub for old UA, with a good number of Trans-Atlantic flight to Europe, Middle East and Africa. Most will remain, but since New York is a more important market than DC, and EWR is more important than IAD for new UA, it is natural to see some shifts. New flight to Istanbul from EWR rather than IAD, for example.
