TSA pre-check, what a joke!
 

Just came through LaGuardia. I'm always TSA pre-check. The lines for pre-check have gotten so long since they started selling it for $85 that the standard line is always shorter. I counted six agents standing around yakking with each other while only one agent checked ID. That person was checking ID for the pre-check line and another line.

Now that half the traveling population has been selected TSA pre-check the random scans have increased 10 fold. On my outbound flight every other person in the pre-check line was pulled aside for a hand scan.

Ironically, TSA has just increased their fees.

The government will never do anything perfectly. Pre-check is implemented differently at different facilities. Some require my laptop to come out and most don't.

As a person that carries a lot of electronics that I hate to drag out, I am always glad to go through pre-chck. When I re-entered at DFW from Japan yesterday, I walked down to a different security gate to walk straight through with priority pre-check. The only problems are the newbies standing there with their stuff in their hands to carry though the metal detector!

Was that grand understatement meant to be as funny as it was?

Recently flying home from Ft. Myers, I was tagged for pre-check, so as we got to the TSA, I was directed one way and Peter the other. It wasn't very busy at that time, but I noted there was literally NO line at the regular direction, while there was a sizeable line at the pre-check side. Sure enough, Peter got through and waited about 10 minutes for me at the other side.
Oh well, at least I didn't have to take off my shoes or take out my liquids.

The terminal at LGA we left from didn't have a Pre-check line even though I been assigned to it.

Pre-check is implemented differently at different airports. At my provential home airport, even when I go though precheck, I have to remove the laptop, tablet, etc. When I questioned the advantage, the guard snapped, "You can keep on your shoes!"

I survey the lines... if precheck is longer then the normal line I don't use it.

I also NEVER use elite lines. (How does someone fly 100,000 plus miles a year on Delta and fail to understand the meaning of "empty your pockets", yes they meant YOU and yes they meant ALL pockets. LOL!)

Sounds good, but when I saw the regular line was shorter, after the guy checked my ID and sent me towards the "precheck" line, I tried to go to the other line. But I got barked at firmly "I said you go to THAT line". I chose not to argue. Call me a wimp.

Not at all, NeoPatrick. These peeps take what they say very seriously.
