True Story?

This is said to have happened in Denver. I doubt it is true, but I wish it were:

A crowded United Airlines flight was canceled. A single agent was re- booking a long line of inconvenienced travelers. Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket on the counter and said "I HAVE to be on this flight and it has to be FIRST CLASS." The agent replied, "I am sorry, sir. I'll be happy to try to help you, but, I've got to help these folks first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out." The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?" Without hesitating, the agent smiled and grabbed her public address microphone, "May I have your attention please," she began, her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to Gate 14."

With the folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the United agent, gritted his teeth and swore "F*** You!". Without flinching, she smiled and said, I'm sorry sir, you'll have to get in line for that too.

Its funny. And I hope they threw that guy out of the airport for that sort of behavior.

This story has been around for years. Different versions, different airllines, airports but pretty much the same story.

I'm sure it's based on many various true stories, but as it stands now it's an "urban legend".

Just remembered - Bill Murray and John Candy (not sure which character actually did the scene) but 1 of the 2 did a very close version of this in the movie "Trains, Planes and Automobiles". It was a scene with a car rental place and it is somewhat different but still the same concept.

It was the late John Candy and he co-starred with Steve martin.

Steve Martin did the scene at a car rental agency in what was purported to be STL.

Thanks guys. I don't know what made me think of Bill Murray. As you said, it was Steve Martin in that classic scene.

BTW, it's a great movie to watch before any trip. If you think something could go wrong during your trip, this movie will put it in proper perspective.

A comedy classic IMHO!

I agree, a great movie

It is very funny )"those aren't pillows") :-) :-), but I don't know about watching it BEFORE a trip. That for me it like watching "Titanic" before a cruise. :S- JM2C.
