Travel On Air Asia

I am looking at flights in October from Osaka to Honolulu and Air Asia fares are several hundred dollars cheaper than other carriers who fly that route. I know this is a budget carrier and they load on extras for baggage, food, and seating. Has anyone flown them? Are they reliable? TIA

I flew them from Saigon to Bangkok, on time, new aircraft. But, yes, a budget airline so you pay for extras.

We use them a lot, maybe 20 flights last year. Punctuality is great, staff excellent, seats on some flights can be cramped so worth paying extra for a premium seats on a long haul flight. We used them once for Kuala Lumpur to Sydney and upgraded to "business class" which still cost significantly less than economy on regular carriers. You don’t get the business class service but meals and lounge access are includedand the 170 degree reclining seats were excellent.

Worth joining their loyalty programme for advance notice of the very regular sales where major bargains are to be had.

I think they are reliable

I've written a long post twice, but I keep getting cut off, so I'll just say:
This flight is not worth the money you will save. We paid $99 each way from Honolulu to Osaka, and it was absolutely the most miserable flight I've ever taken! We actually tried to get home on a different airline.
Details to follow later if you're interested!
