Travel iron a problem in luggage?

Should I pack my travel iron in my checked luggage or in my carry on bag? Anyone have any problems with a travel iron?

Hi,

I would probably pack the iron in the checkled luggage if for no other reason than you do not have to carry it around with you and risk it being confiscated at a security check point ( I do not know if it is allowed or not)

Of course you should put it in your checked luggage. For the most part is non-essential, you can always get one at the hotel if your luggage gets lost. And any large metal objects in your carry-ons only make you more of a target to have your bags hand-searched.

Don't really see a reason for carrying one as most mid/large sized hotels have them in each room or they can be requested from the front desk. Additionally, why would you want to carry an extra weight around???
