Transferring from LGA to JFK
Our possible route to Budapest has a change of airports from LGA to JFK. How do we do this?
|
The easiest way would be to take a taxi or hire a car service.
|
Or there's a regularly scheduled shuttle bus that runs between the two airports. Assuming traffic isn't bad, it takes about 45 minutes.
How much time would you have between flights? |
If you are a single traveler then the shuttle is the best choice but give yourself at least 1.5 hour because you will need to re-check luggage and there is the traffic problem.
Taxis are not expensive between the airports so if there are at least 2 of you then it's a good choice as well. The plus side is that if you are short on time the cabbie will know how to beat the traffic. I had one cabbie exit the expressway, go through some side streets, and make it to JFK in less than 30 minutes. The traffic reports were saying that it would take 1+ hour. |
It sounds like we have to get luggage at jFK & then recheck in at LGA. Even though we book it all thru Delta website.
Thanks |
They are different airports, so yeah, you would have to collect and recheck your luggage.
Better option would be to find an airline or airline partnership that will fly you to JFK to connect. |

Yes, of course, but at the moment on Delta site, the TLH-ATL-JFK-BUD has a 43 min layover in ATL. That makes me nervous. We want Business class & the options are 3k & 6K. But we have a while, and I will keep checking Delta site. |
