Transferring from LaGuardia to JFK
Here's the plan - Nov 1 arrive LaGuardia (from a Southwest domestic flight--no customs stop) at 12:35pm; depart JFK 8:15pm (on an International flight - MaxJet).
Am I correct to assume that is plenty of time barring unforseen & strange events? What are my transportation options for getting from LaGuardia to JFK? public transport, buses, taxi, hired car, etc. And I'm greedy - asking for even more - any idea of how much each costs? Thanks so much, Julie Thanks, Julie |
Many options and plenty of time:

Great info. Thanks, AA. Do you know if the taxi price is for 1 person & 3 people will be more? Since there are 3 of us, a taxi may be no more than the bus?
And, what are the chances of getting "ripped off" by the taxi driver, like has happened to us in a couple of other US major cities (did the verrrry long way around!)? Also, if we take the bus, I assume we just follow the interior airport signs to buses/taxis/transportation? Thanks for your help, Julie |
Just make sure you don't deal with the "gypsy" taxi drivers, the ones that approach you in the terminal. Go to the official taxi queue and demand the meter on once in the cab. The chances of these drivers ripping you off are slim to none. They would lose their license. This run is perfect for them. Chances are they will be running right back with other passengers doing the reverse run.
If you're really worried and are willing to spend few extra $, arrange a private car/limo service. The driver will be waiting for you at the security exit with your name on a card. You will know exactly how much it will be ahead of time. btw, I do agree that with 3 people, taxi or private car service is much better option for you. The taxi may charge extra for the 3rd person, I'm not sure what the NYC regulations are about that, but at the very worst. it will be about the same or perhaps couple $ more than the bus. I have a feeling it will be less and it's on demand. Have a great trip! |
To follow up with AA. NYC cabs don't charge for 3rd person.

I live near jfk and take a taxi from lga to my house before and with little to no traffic and the meter running it comes in under $25. And there is no extra charge for extra people and as someone said, go with the yellow cab.
