Transfer time in Philadelphia Airport

Hi,

I am in the process of booking a trip to Europe and will be transferring from a domestic flight to an international flight in Philadelphia. I will be most likely be arriving from Boston on US Air and leaving from Philly also on US Air. Most of the connections we have found only allow 1.5 hours for the transfer. Is this sufficient?????

Thank you.

Jeff

In PHL, if your flight is on time an hour and a half would be sufficient. Where are you traveling to in Europe?

There are a lot of flights from BOS to many European destinations. I would opt for a non-stop even if it cost a few bucks more.

I think for the most part making a connection in Europe is better than making one on the US East Coast especially depending on the time of the year.

Good luck with your travel plans!

90 minutes is doable. However, if there is only one flight a night to your destination in Europe, and assuming arriving a day late would put a damper on the vacation (or, worse, cause you to miss a tour or departure, important family event, etc), I'd always opt for the security of an earlier flight to PHL to reduce risk.

That said, as DMB suggested, I'd choose a direct flight from Boston to Europe and connect there, as there are many short-hop options to your final destination if the TATL happens to be delayed (not to mention how much better it can be be killing time in lounges, shops and restaurants of European airports than domestic).

Hi,

We are headed to Bilbao, Spain. A direct flight from Boston would be best, but all fares we found cost 50% more than routing through PHL. We booked PHL assuming that the probability is that we should make the plane.

Thanks for the advice.

Hope you get to explore Spain. I was there in July for "The Running Of The Bulls". Beautiful country!

For me, 90 mins. would not be sufficient to feel comfortable, when I was getting onto an overseas flight to Europe. Sure maybe you can make it, but it would not be enjoyable for me. I always err on the side of waiting around the airport a bit longer rather than any chance of missing an important flight connection.
