What time does United load their Freq flier seats at the start of the availabity window (is it 331 days?) I'm on the East Coast. Thanks

Today, December 7, 2007, you can book award travel online for as late as November 2, 2008. That't 331 days. That is the start of the window but not necessarily when they will make seats available.

I don't think it is going to matter much what time of day, if that is what you are asking.

I am looking for the actual time of day/night the ff tixs are loaded into the system. I realize tixs may be released at different intervals but wanted to try and get them when first released. I will be traveling on the first day (331 days out) I could book tickets. I was thinking I could book them at midnight or so and thus trying to find out what time the tickets can be booked. I've called UA and gotten a different answer every time I call.

I understand that you want to be first in line. So, try it at 12:01 AM GMT. Then try again 5 hours later at 12:01 AM EST. Then 12:01 Central. Then 12:01 AM Pacific.

You are assuming that they do it at precisely the same time every day, and that may not be the case.

But if you really want to know, go in every minute for a date 331 days from your experiment, and see when they show up. Then go in at the same time the next day to validate your findings, and you would probably want to also check holidays and weekends.

Let us know what you find. My bet would be that there is no consistent exact time, particularly if human input is involved.

My experience is that my favorite airline, when talking about a time, uses the local time where their headquarters is located. But that may not be true for all airlines, and particularly those whose operating centers are not co-located with their headquarters.

The change happened between 9:45PM and 10:14 PM, PST, tonight. That's around midnight Central Time - in Chicago, for example, where United's World HQ is located.
