Ticket change fee: $100 + ??
 
Hi, I am flying to Belize on Continental (bought on Continental.com).

I am thinking about extending trip a couple of days, but now when I search the price has gone up by $200.
Does anybody know if I pay the $100 change fee + approximately half of the $200 increase (because only changing one part of flight)

Yes, the airline knows and that is the only place to get an authorative answer. There are times when the fare class on the outbound can be different than the return. That, in turn, means that the increase you noted may not be evenly divided between the two portions of the itinerary. Call and find out what the deal is in your specific situation.

No, you will pay the change fee and the total fare difference. After all the new fare is not based on one way travel but a R/T. If your original ticket was $100, with departure on Monday and return on Wednesday, but the fare is $300 with departure on Monday and return on Friday, then you will have to pay the difference of $200 if you want to return on Friday. So your thinking that possibily you should be charged only 1/2 of the difference is wrong. The new fare is based on the same departure on Monday AND return on Friday, NOT just the return on Friday. In another words, if everybody else wanted to buy the MON-FRI trip they would have to pay $300, so why should it be any different for you?

Ye, AAFF is correct. We changed only the dates of our departure on Continental to Paris first class and it cost us $300.00 each.

I think it may be even worse. When you change, they don't give you the fare you found on-line, they give you the fare available to their ticket agents, which is often a little higher. At least that's the game they played with me for a flight in August, although I think I read recently that tickets could be changed on-line.

Yes, you can change your ticket on continental.com now, which eliminates the extra $5-10 extra charge if you use the phone. They're also giving you 1,000 miles for doing that.

Recently changed my daughter's flight home for Christmas on United. They charged me the full $100 change fee. However, the fare was $70 less than her first flight so it only cost me $30 to make the change.

Sometimes it is possible to change your flights on line. But it is not true that continental give you 1000 miles for changing your flights on line. You receive 1000 miles for booking on line. rkkwan, you are suggesting there will be additional 1000 miles for changing your itinerary. Why such confussion?

Dough, there is $200 charge per person for changing your international itinerary regadless if you are changing one or all segments of your flights.

And no, there is no additional charge of $10.00 for calling continental directly if you want to change your intiernational itineray.

They won't let me change it on-line, probably because it's international...
I'll just see how much fun I am funning down there - and then find how much it costs to extend my return.

I noticed one of fly flight's is:
Class: Economy (T)
And another is:
Class: Economy (V)

Can somebody tell me what T and V mean?

"T" is a deep-discount economy, one of the lowest fare class in CO's system, and earns only 50% EQM unless booked on continental.com. [EQM = Elite Qualifying Miles.] "V" is a discount economy fare.
