Fun article! I just changed my seat from 4F to 4A on tonights flight from ORD to LGA. We'll see if I luck out with the jaw dropping view of Manhattan. I'm in seat 3A from HKG to SFO in a few weeks, so looks as if I get some good views. I'm flying in seat 1K in the morning from JFK to HKG. Wonder if I'll get a a view of HKG upon landing? Thanks for posting this, I'm ready to head to the airpot now...

Depends on which way the plane lands in HKG, you may see the city from the left side, or not much. So, you may want to change your seat to 1A or 2A. First class on CX... nice!

>>>the joys of the Window Seat...<<<

Thanks for warming this early Singapore Friday morning 'berk1', and warm welcome to this fine family friendly fodor's forum! (And should any of you out there be flying SQ2 this Sunday, well, drinks on me at a certain SIA SIN SilverKris Lounge -- and yes, 'window seat' awaits.)

Keep up the good work fodorites and, if so inclined, check out some rather fine 'high up' shots on SQTalk.com (dig deep into 'the vault' for some cherished SIN to BKK/NRT/HKG/ICN/N.A. pics) and, as always, sweet and smooth (SQ) rides to you.

I've always wondered whether it would be a window-seat treat to fly from the East Coast -- just as the fireworks were beginning -- to the West Coast on the 4th of July. I have wondered whether you'd be treated to fireworks all the way across the country. But maybe you'd be too high to see it all.

The article says "The left side is almost always an “A” seat; the right side varies by aircraft type".

Sorry to be so dense, but what is an "A" seat?

Cynstalker: A seat labeled A, such as 15 A, 3A etc. The right side varies because its letter depends on how many seats there are across a row,

Aren't they gorgeous? What a great way to escape! I began to try to guess where they were.... who cares how many I got right, it's fun.

berk1, hope you don't mind but going to post the html for the results in the Lounge too, where people get so roiled up that they need some escape.
