TAP - Portugal - lack of safety instructions
Flew Porto to LHR on TP last night 29th August and am very concerned about the attitude of the crew to safety.
There was no safety breifing at all, sat down and took of. The crew served the meal (Business Class), gave us a drink and then dissapeared for the rest of the flight to chay behind the curtian. The male head FA who was there when we got on appeared when we landed. My question is - was the lack of any safety announcement or instructions breaking the law or regulations. I am a frequent flyer on many european airlines and have never had this happen before. Who should I write to expressing my concerns as I think the head FA needs a severe reprimand for lack of interest in the safety of the 100+ lives that he was responsible for.

These days, the safety briefing comes on the tv screens? did you miss it or that was missing also?
On Emirates, all briefing is on the tv monitors for each seat. I don't think the FA's bring out the buckle and do the usual demos etc etc.,

I realise that on some planes the breifing is on a screen and no I did not miss it as there were no screens on the plane.
We are talking about a European flight of 2 hours so there is no requirement to keep the passengers amused on a short flight - hence no screens

A safety briefing is required by Federal Air Regulations in the U.S. I'm not sure about Europe but I wouldn't be surprised if similar regulations exist.
Perhaps Portugal has no such regulations, or perhaps safety is not important to TAP.

God knows - but I drove the 200 miles home from Heathrow in 2.5 hours on the motorway, so perhaps I shouldn`t worry about TAP and be concerned about my driving.

The decompression thing does happen rarely, without fatal results, and is good to know about.
The flotation devices are much more rarely used, but there have been a few rescues of some passengers from water.
