tail fin designs?

i feel like i've asked this before, but couldn't find the answer.

is there a site out there where you can look at all of the various art work/ designs for the various airlines' tail fins?

most of my plane spotting occurs from a bit of a distance as planes are going through their landing patterns around la to LAX and the only hope i have of identifying what airline it is, is by the tail fin design.

thanks!

I don't know of the site, but have you seen the new design for the Flying Kangaroo. QANTAS has had to redesign it to fit on the tail fins of the new Airbuses.

Wow, that's a site I'm gonna keep as a favorite... Thanks, Bisbee!

thank you both.

airliners.net is one i have bookmarked, and it's a little more comprehensive than i'd had in mind (46 web pages of photos of airlines starting w/ the letter A, alone!!) ;)

i guess i'm looking for a site where you can browse the tail fin designs at a glance and find what you may have just seen in the sky.

Here's a list of airlines using LAX:
http://www.lawa.org/lax/laxAirlines.cfm?listbyCompany=1

It's not particularly current because it still lists Varig which I think went out of business. And it doesn't list cargo carriers. Each name is a link and if you click it some of the popups have links to the airlines' homepage.

That at least gives you an idea of what the passenger airlines might be. Also, you can figure the airline size gives a clue. Ted and Southwest don't have 4-engine aircraft, e.g. And that's not BA on the 737.

I did a search for "aircraft livery designs" and found this:
