Swiss this February?
I am planning a family trip to Italy this February and I was going to use my American air miles. They have booked me on Swiss, flying from NY to Zurich, Zurich to Rome and then leaving from Venice to Zurich and Zurich to NY. This airlines offers me the best flights - in fact the only flights I can get with my miles to get my family on this trip. What is the story with this airline? I have been reading mixed reviews from this web site. Would you take these tickets?

It is essentially still swissair with a quick lick of paint - swissair were one of the best airlines in the world, certianly one of the best in europe. i would imagine since it went bankrupt and was rebranded as swiss that in terms of service not a lot has changed. i would be very happy.

Yes, I would definitely agree with the previous post. You would be absolutely INSANE to willingly board one of our U.S.-based carriers on an international flight. Take Swiss and you will see they have one of the better catering divisions out there! The overall in-flight experience is far better than American Airlines!! Trust me!

Rocky -- I am guessing that Michael was praising the Pan Am of yore (probably the way they were in the 60's and 70's). He is right about US carriers these days though. First class on AA, UA & DL is not what it used to be. I call it the Southwestification of domestic carriers.

Why don't you write coherently and then people like myself and Michael might be able to respond to your question? Your last message on this thread is so badly written that I can't understand what you are getting at. Please check your replies for mistakes before posting.
Basically I think what Michael was saying (and in answer to your poorly worded question) is that PanAmwas a good US carrier but that these days (now PanAm is no longer around) US airlines have gone downhill.

Swiss airline was, is, and will continue to be of utmost standards. And, you can take American miles over Swiss if you would have them. Or, if you book a roundtrip with ând on AA (no code share)right now through March in economy, you get 5k bonus. But, Swiss itself is the new face of Swiss Air. You can't lose either way, you still get miles, good schedule, nice airline. Most European carriers are a little more plush. Have a great trip!

To cocky boy:
The original post in reference to Pan Am had to do with the question, 'does anyone remember the good ol' days'. So, once again, in the good ol' days Pan Am was the best!!! In the present-day 2003, our U.S.-based carriers are an embarrassment. ( I like that term, 'Southwestification') - that really sums it all up!
