Stopvers Using UA Miles

Anyone know if stopovers using miles are still allowed? I've just spent an hour on the phone and in the end was told stopovers are additional miles. I've googed and everything I find has them still allowed, but nothing is from 2016. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on hold and eventually got disconnected.

that would be "I have googled."

A stopover generally breaks things into two trips and would price that way in miles.

Yes, thanks. I understand that it can be broken into 2 trips & then prced accordingly. However UA (and perhaps other airlines) allowed one to make a stopover on a roundtrip when using miles and it not be considered 2 trips in figuring the miles it cost. I'm trying to verify that in fact UA no longer does this.

UA used to allow a stopover for no additional miles... I hope they still do! Please post what you find out about this.

Good luck!

According to the Mileage Plus staff rules were changed as of last April. A stopover now costs 10,000 miles. This is better than the staff telling me they were not allowed unless you paid full amount of miles.

Thanks, yestravel. Every change costs us more miles...

And it's harder to earn them since the last change.

After being told repeatedly by UA that there are no longer stopovers, I saw this today which says they are available.
