Star Alliance upgrades are now available for Mileage Plus miles

Upgrades on *Alliance carriers with Mileage Plus miles are now available. This has been available for members of other *A programs for a little while.

Looks like mileage requirements may vary by date, but here are examples.
Would be 20,000 to upgrade from Y/B on LAX-LHR or 35,000 from C/D
Would be 25,000 to upgrade from Y/B on IAD-NRT

YES!!! WAHOO!!! YAH BABY!!!

I've been waiting for this, if you can't tell. Well worth the miles you quote, IMO.

except ANA and a few others say "will participate soon." I wonder how soon that means.

The eligible fares are expensive.

Were you aware of the following:

Beginning July 18, 2006 Washington Dulles will introduce two new security checkpoints exclusively for first, business and elite travelers and their families or travel companions. With shorter lines and wait times, getting through security will be quicker and easier. For your convenience, one elite lane will be available on the east side of the terminal near the United® ticket counter. A second elite lane will be located on the west side of the terminal. Whichever lane you use, be prepared to show your Mileage Plus® card.

BTW, did you see santamonica's Japan trip report on the Asia board? No Japan in the title, it is "two weeks, two teenagers, no beaches" or soemthing like that. he specifically thanked you and Kim in the report and cited the places he went w/our recommendations...
