"stand Up" seats coming soon
Some of the newer, or maybe cheaper Asian airlines are going to offer a class of traveler who 'stands' up, or is strapped onto a stool, at best.!!!! Now doesn't that beatall, with extra charges for bags, maybe the toilet, etc. Who will want to go ?????

What airline?
I read about this as well, but it wasn't Asian carriers. It was Ryan Air in Europe that I saw had proposed this idea.
Spring Air, a low-cost carrier in China was the first to broach this idea. I would think this will be something that will catch the eye of the ultra-LCC's in Asia and Europe.
For the right price, it wouldn't be a terrible option for an hour-long flight. |
I hope Qantas and Air New Zealand don't go this route. 15 hours standing up. I don't think so.
Its like working as a flight attendant!
At least leg room should not be an issue! For the 15 hour flights they could rotate the design 180 degrees so everyone is lying down rather than sitting. Crawl into a little pod and go to sleep.
So if you're not supposed to stand when the seatbelt sign is on, then what do these people do?
Andrews98682 all they need to do is replace the seats with walls and you strap yourself to the wall. They could install more walls than seats and therefore more carry people than a conventional arrangement. Carry on space would be very limited. Think city bus with lots of room to stand compared to a highway coach with lots of nice seats. Tall people won't want the window position!
