STA Travel
Has anyone used STA Travel to book airline tickets? Reliable? I've used cheapoair and a couple of others with success but never heard of STA. They're showing very good fall airfares. Thanks for any info.

STA has been around for years. I've always associated it with student travel discounts, but looks like this is in their small print:
"STA Travel provides air tickets for customers of all ages; however, some of our airfare is available just to full-time students, Teachers at accredited schools, and youth travelers under the age of 26. These special fares may have age restrictions and/or other eligibility requirements including possession of valid ID Cards. Additional airline imposed fees for optional services including baggage, seat assignments, meals and other products may apply and are payable at check-in."
You need to make sure that you are searching as an adult instead of a student ... unless of course you are a student. I booked a flight from DC to EDI many years ago when I was a student, and the ticket was far cheaper than I could have bought through a "traditional" travel outlet.

I would stick with what you know, just so you don't run into a scam. Cheapoair is pretty good, I myself booked many flights with them all over Europe. Also use Shopnfly for air/Dutyfree travel if you're looking to keep to a strict budget. Good luck, and take care

Yes, STA has been around forever and used to have offices on many campuses. I don't seem those so much anymore as I imagine everything is online now. When my daughter studied in Madrid, STA had student flight arrangements where they didn't have to pay high change fees or ticket prices if they decided to change their return flights. All of her group ended up changing flights at some point and only had to pay $25 to do so. That was in 2006 so things may have changed.
They also sell the ISIC (international card for students which gets a lot of discounts places).
