Skyteam question - linking ff flights
How would two people reserve ff flights at the same time? Do I have to call or is there someway to do this online? I don't want to book one online and then when I try to book the second one find out it's not available.

That is an interesting question about whther or not they need to talk to both people. My husband has been on the phone and booked flights using both his and my FF miles, no problem. My miles were for ticket in my name (which is a different last name than his) and his miles were for him and our 2 kids. I was never on the phone nor did I need to give my permission to the person on the phone.
I would just try it and see what happens.

Yes, but it's not a spouse or someone in the household. I can't imagine they would let you call up, give them someone's FF number and book a flight. If that were the case, we could all steal other people's ff miles. Even if I have their pin # it would seem they would be some kind of verification.

Please start with some basic information.
Where are you (two) and where are you going?
What ff program are you on?
On American you can go online and see if there are two seats available for the same route. I'm sure other companies do the same thing.
I usually don't book until I can see if there is an opening for two.
You can also put a flight on hold for 24 hours and then see if the other person can get the same flight(s).

I haven't looked at flights yet because I needed to figure this out. I have Delta and NWA accounts, but my cousin has neither (had an old Delta account we can probably reactivate) and will be transferring points from AmEx for his flight. He will have to transfer to Delta because there isn't an agreement between AmEx and NWA. I know we could use other airlines, but I don't really want to use my AmEx pts when I already have Delta and NWA. Yes, we would prefer the same flights.

You can transfer from Amex to NW via Delta now.
If you decide to both use Delta Skymiles, you can try logging in and holding the two passengers reservations separately under their respective accounts.
If that doesn't work, hold both passengers together in one reservation. Call and ask that the reservation be split and put back on hold so you can redeem the miles from separate account. Then go back online and redeem from each account. I've done this before when I needed to use miles from two separate accounts.
If both passengers aren't on the same flights, it's a little more tricky but I've found that the agents are generally willing to make some tweaks to the reservation for you before putting it back online so start by putting a close approximation of what you want on hold online before calling.
Of course, the above is all to avoid the telephone ticketing fee. If you don't care about paying the fee $20 per ticket, then just call.
I'm not sure how you would go about doing this with NW Worldperks since I don't believe they allow award reservation holds.

Yes, we would prefer the same flights.
I missed that earlier. Ignore my comment about "If both passengers aren't on the same flights..."

PS - I manage the Skymiles account of about half a dozen people including my husband who doesn't have the same last name as me and relatives who don't share the same address. No one except for me ever speaks to Delta. As long as I had their pin, I've never encountered any problems getting tickets issued and as long as I had the confirmation number, I've never had any issues changing the reservation or redepositing the ticket. So don't give out your pin or confirmation number to anyone you can't trust!

Not about DL, but on CO, you can definitely book an award flight for somebody else. I've done it dozen of times for my parents, as long as I have the FF# and PIN from the account holder and I can produce a valid CC# (doesn't matter if it's my card or the FF# holder's), awards can be issued.
Don't give out your PIN or password of your FF account to others, as they can definitely empty out your account.

On AA you can definitely use online to search for two tickets at the same time (or more). Then if you get what you want put the two flights on hold. Then phone back and explain you want the one ticket to come out of one account and the other out of the other account. (Well, if that is what you were doing.) The operator will sort it out. And I do it all the time for me and my husband from our two accounts.
