Shuttle between NY & Boston - Logan
 

Any advice about flying between NY airports and Boston Logan? After a cruise that docks in NY we need to return to Boston and would like to know how easy, economical and timely flying between these two cities will be. <BR>Which airlines would anyone suggest and from what NY airport would this be best to fly from? <BR> <BR>Thanks, Jack

I've flown the US Airways Shuttle from NY Laguardia (LGA) to Boston several times, it was pretty easy. I think they offer flights ever hour on the hour, and it takes a little over an hour to get there (actual flight time is less, like 30-40 min). Check with your cruise line to see if they run a bus (free) from NY to Boston. We cruised with Royal Caribbean 1 year ago and they took us to and from the ship by bus from Boston.

Both USAir and Delta run frequent shuttles between LaGuardia and Logan. If you're flying on a Saturday or before mid-day Sunday, the one-way fares are pretty cheap. If you'll be flying some other time, you may want to buy a ticket (RT) as far in advance as possible, to take advantage of advance purchase discounts--check when you make the reservation--Both airlines usually allow you to "wait list" for an earlier or later flight (as long as it's also during their discounted time period--approximately 10:00 am- 3:00 pm and 7pm-10pm.) And it's rare that there won't be seats available for the flight that you want to take. <BR>You may also want to consider taking the train from Penn Station to Boston. The new Acela Express takes about 3 and a half hours, but it rather pricey. Depending on where your boat docks in NY and where you need to get to in Boston, it may not take any more time than traveling to and from the airports.

When does your boat dock? If it during the week at rush hour, you might be better off flying out of Newark as you will be near the Lincoln Tunnel and won't have to go across the city. <BR> <BR>
