Should I give up on Hawaii this summer?
I had a great a great ticket with a great price--and then ATA stoped flying. Now Continental wants over $1,000 on tickets to Hawaii, while Delta and American want over $700. I had paid $457.90. I'm glad I used my credit card. I've already been credited.

You should give up on finding a low fare, but you shouldn't give up on Hawaii.

I agree. Don't give up on Hawaii! Can you do some sort of package that includes air/hotel and maybe a rental car? I find that (with UA) I can get a better deal going with a package than with separate flight and hotel and car. I'm going in September (from ORD) and have not yet booked, but I have checked prices and I save a pretty penny by getting the package to HNL.

Thanks for your comments. I will keep watching the prices.

Check Hawaiian Airlines on their website. Also, check repeatedly, and check other days in the same week. Although I realize the prices went up with the closure of Aloha and ATA, they have historically been cheaper than United; also now Delta miles and Hawaiian seem to be interchangeable.
United has a better schedule, but if you can make the more limited HA flights from the west coast, you might do ok, and at least you don't have to deal with the Euro! |
Clued in by airline IT guy- clear cookies: the software tracks your queries. When I did this price dropped.
Flexible dates: some times obv. more hectic than others. Pkg: Hotels discount air to get your business. Constant: check constantly- prices drop for short periods of time, even now. Got my dad tkts SD-HNL under $400 post ATA defunct. |
