Short times between planes in Berlin

I am possibly taking Air Berlin from JFK to Oslo and back from Stockholm. Both have transfers in Berlin. I see there's only 1 hour transfer time in Berlin going out and 50 minutes coming home. Is this enough time? Seems pretty scary to me but have never been through the Berlin airport.

If it's Tegel, I can't imagine this would be a problem as long as your flight isn't terribly delayed. My arrival and luggage pick-up at Tegel in October took about 15 minutes total. I had gone through immigration in Zurich, where I had 50 minutes for my connection (where the plane was held for 5 minutes so all passengers could board). Now I"m not at all sure what you should expect if this is going to the new airport (which hasn't opened yet). It's to be huge and has had many many problems.

Which new airport? Is Tegel going to expand? If it's a brand new airport that you are speaking of, would my tickets still say "TXL"?

I believe that I won't have to pick up my luggage in Berlin and check it in again as the flights are all Air Berlin. Is this correct?

You already said you were going to Tegel, so it's Tegel. The new Brandenburg airport has yet to open but will become the primary airport in Berlin if/when it finally opens after about 18 months of continual delays (with more probably coming).

Your luggage will go directly to Oslo from JFK. You will not check it in. But Tegel is a relatively small airport and is run very efficiently. I don't believe you'll have problems there, but I'm sure someone here has more direct experience doing a transfer there and can fill you in on more details.

While Brandenburg is starting to pop up on the Internet, latest estimate for opening is into 2014. Even the Germans, it seems, can't escape the black hole of building new airports.
