Short Layover in London

Hi,
I'm travelling in May from Birmingham AL to Edinburgh Scotland, and the flight is from Bham to Miami, Miami to London, London to Edinburgh. I have a concern that the layover in London is only 1hr40min and that we will not have enough time to get through customs. My question is, do we have to get our bags in London and actually go through customs, or is it only security we have to go through and not have to worry about checked luggage until we get to Edinburgh?

What airline? Normally bags are thru checked but since the airline is not mentioned this is only speculation. Customs takes no time to get thru in the UK, but immigration lines can be long. Usually at LHR you follow signs to flight connections, but again without knowing the airline/airport in London hard to say.

It will be all thru T5 so should be ok. BA aren't going to sell a connection that is under the recommended connecting time, in any case they will put you on the next LHREDI flight if the MIALHR flight is late & you miss your original connection. Baggage is thru checked to EDI.

I'm doing a BA connection LHR to EDI next month w/ 1:40 too.

I'm not the least bit worried. T-5, luggage checked through, and even if we DO miss the connection (which we shouldn't) there are other flights all day.
