SFO vs LAX
Which of these airports would you choose for a one night stop over? I've been through both airports a few times before so I'm familiar with the layouts. However, I'm basing this decision mostly on weather related delays/cancelations.
I'm leaning toward LAX at this point only because I hear SFO can have problems with fog (the times I've been through I've never had a problem at SFO but maybe I was just lucky). If it matters the flight will be taking place at the end of September (UAL) in the morning (about 9am). Any preferences? Thanks |
Take which ever gets you the best connections/schedule/fare . .
San Francisco gets its very beast weather of the entire year in September. So weather shouldn't be an issue at either airport. |
Thanks- price is actually the same through either airport at this point.
The routing is BOS to SFO, overnight, then SFO to OGG (or BOS to LAX, overnight, then LAX to OGG). The flights from BOS land in California at about 9pm, then the flight to hawaii leaves about 9am next morning. I'm less concerned with delays/cancelations the next morning than i was about making sure I got in the night before to make the flight the next morning. |
Hardly ever any delay at LAX. And very good rates on 4* hotels from Priceline - all very short shuttle ride from terminal. If just for overnight and everything else the same, like aircraft type.

LAX. I've given up on SF and use Oakland if I have to fly into the city.
|
Priceline is also great for SFO hotels.
Maybe depends on whether you want to see a bit of SF orLA. |
The aircraft from LAX is a 757-200 and from SFO it's 767-300. I'll be in an economy plus seat, so won't be in first.

Don't know about the flight times, but SFO is closer to Hawaii than LAX.
|
The morning SFO-OGG is on a 763. Even though it's ghetto bird, still probably more comfy than the 757-200 from LAX.

Thanks-- I booked through SFO
