Security lines at IAD

Has anyone flown out of IAD internationally in the past two weeks or so? I'm leaving on Sunday and am wondering how long the lines have been. Nightly News has made it seem like the wait everywhere is hours. I have a TSA Pre-Check number. Thanks.

What time is your flight? My daughter flew out of DCA this past Monday internationally and there were no lines at 4am! Her flight was at 6am and she was headed to JFK for her connector.

It can be anywhere from 10 minutes to 45 minutes, depending on lines. If you have precheck, it's usually on the lesser side.

The key at IAD is time of day. When I fly out of IAD, it's usually at night, and that's when most of the international flights are departing. Longest I've ever had to wait is about 30 mins. Of course, am leaving out of there tomorrow morning (8:30a. flight), and despite having Pre, I am giving myself 1.5 hours to get through security & to my gate. Most airlines say to check in 2 hours prior for international flights, and given the recent hysteria in the media over the TSA lines, I'd say give yourself 2.5 - 3 to be safe. If you get through & have time to spare, there are good shops & restaurants in Terminal A. Or, you might consider buying a 1-day pass to an airline lounge. Good luck, & safe travels!

My experience at IAD in the last 7 days with two different evening international flights: Drop off to security side in under 30 minutes, non pre check.
