Seatguru.com vs. United's diagram

Hi

The seating diagrams for United's 747-400s from Dulles to Frankfurt do not match the seatguru.com diagrams for those aircraft.

I booked something that doesn't look good on seatguru, but United is showing a completely different seat map, even different from when I booked.

Does anyone have any thoughts? On United it appears that there are some great biz seats open upstairs; our seats are downstairs and at the very front near the door. Sounds like I can do better by United's seat map, but seatguru shows no upstairs on this aircraft.

I'm so confused. Any thoughts?

Both the old and new configuration of UA's 744 are on seatguru.com.

The upper deck is shown in the bottom of the page, after the main deck.

Version 1 is the old configuration. Version 2 is the new one. UA currently have ONE 744 in operation with the new configuration.

There is a 767 on that route with the new seats.

United says the 747 and they booked us upstairs on the way home. I guess I'm still confused. I don't think calling will help, because the agent that gave us the seats was using the new configuration.

Since they only have one 747 with that configuration, I wonder which route it is on?

The old version has rows 11-18 on the upper deck. New version has 12-17, with fewer seats.

On the new version, the odd-numbered rows face backwards:

So, if you don't want to face backwards, get an even-numbered row on the upper deck.

Can't you just look at your seats and grab your assignment all on united.com? Why have to call?

I guess I want to call so that I can change the seats... I wonder if I have to sit backwards all the way home? I dont think I would like it. But do I understand correctly that if the plane is the old configuration, the odd number seats will face the same way as all the other seats?

In the old configuration, all seats face forward.

You can change your seat assignment as much as you want online. If you ever make a change online and don't see it right away then logoff, close your browser, and go back in and you should see it.

I just took a look at United dot com and see that they are showing the new seats on the diagram for UA 916, IAD to FRA (on June 5).

If you search by schedule then you'll see there is a 747. Look at the seat map and notice that there is no row 11 or 12AB. And the seats face both ways.
