At times like these we need heroes and,as far as I'm concerned the staff at this airline are all heroes

Well done Ryanair - wish you flew here in the US

Only an American would try to travel internationally without a passport and then complain that security was too tight and wouldn't let them board a flight! Nuff said!

Hi

I fly Ryanair regularly.

Before accepting the internet booking, customers must key the "I accept the terms above" button.

I quote from a booking I made in March 2002 :

* It is the passengers personal responsibilty to ensure they have valid documentation ............ for immigration ...... other Govt bodies.............. Ryanair recommends you carry your valid passport ........... .

* All passengers must present valid photo identification ............ the only accepted ........ all international journeys require a valid passport .............. Failure to present such valid proof ............... will result in you being refused check in.

This is repeated as the first line of the confirmation Email.

Checking another booking made August 2002, the content remains the same, but with more detail on Schengen identity cards.

Discrimination against US military ???????????

Andre,

It does not matter whether it was Swedish airport security or Ryanair. What matters is that Ryanair has not (yet) become a target for terrorists. Meanwhile, the US airlines have. I have witnessed somne horrific security lapses since 9/11 onboard US airlines departing US airports. In fact now I am reluctant to fly to the US and am very reluctant to use US airlines. FYI - I climbed onto a flight from Newark to Paris last year just after 9/11 without tickets or baording passes. Continental did not know or spot me until I went and told them half way across the Atlantic. They actually had two extyra people onboard and did not know or realise or care! Whenever I try and start a thread about this Fodors erase it but I am keen for the world to know that Continental is tempting fate and a disaster is just around the corner for them.
