Thanks for the advice, rkkwan, but I think I'm still going to change it. First of all, we have a car service coming to meet us at the airport in order to take us to an apartment I've rented. Second of all, mom is wheelchair bound and her getting around is an issue in itself so public transport isn't reall an option.

So, I really wouldn't think of putting my sister thru getting Mom to the apartment in a foreign city all on her own. I think it's better if they know exactly what time I'm due to arrive and we just stick together. So, I still plan to change it here in a few minutes....if for nothing else but to ensure that I'm on the 8:50 a.m. flight and that it isn't full if I end up missing the first one. I would hate to have to take an even later flight and end up in Rome five or six or more hours after my mom and sister's arrival, or perhaps even the next day if all the later flights for that date are full. If I weren't meeting other people, I wouldn't care one way or the other but I really want this trip to be smooth for my mom's sake.

Thanks for the advice, though.

One more thought. I just wish I'd really looked at and thought about the connection time before I originally bought the ticket so that I could have booked the 8:50 a.m. flight at that time. It's due to my own stupidity in that realm that I'm now having to pay the $100 to change it. (Kicking myself in the rear as I type this). At least I know it won't happen again in the future.

Statia - Considering your situation, I'll say that paying to change is probably the wise thing to do.

Thanks, rkkwan. I changed it today and then the agent told me, "Oh, there's a flight at 7:50, as well." I THOUGHT about it...for about ten seconds. Then, decided to just stick with the 8:50 flight so that I have plenty of time for the connection.

The good news is that my agent here said she couldn't bill me the $100 charge so I will have to pay it at the AF counter at SXM. She added, however, "Don't say anything, though, because they very well might not charge you."

So, I think I will finally be able to sleep tonight now that this little issue is solved.

Thanks for the advice, rkkwan and everyone else. It's greatly appreciated. BTW - Sorry to hijack your thread in requesting such.
