Redepositing American Aadvantage miles for British Airways trip
Does it take longer for Aadvantage miles to be redeposited when award travel is booked -- and canceled -- for travel on British Airways?
Yesterday I changed an award ticket for travel on American Airlines to travel on a later date on British Airways. Several hours later, I canceled that trip altogether. So my account contains the initial award (-30K), a redeposit for the change (+30K), and an expenditure for the British Airways ticket (-30K). So far, though, no 30K+ for the cancelation. Do I need to be more patient? |
I think it does take a while -- I 'think' I've read on FlyerTalk that the BA and AA IT systems don't communicate very well (or at all sometimes). You may need to call AAdvantage . . . or maybe register on FlyerTalk and ask there because both the BA and AA forums are very active.

Thanks, janisj. I have just spoken to an AA agent, who said he could see the redeposit was on its way to my account, but it could take a while. You are right again, I guess!
Just checked the account again -- because I am an obsessive -- and at the moment, AA says I have zero miles ... very reassuring. It's been two years since I've been abroad, Can you tell???? |
