Red-eyes and Eye Masks
Which (if any) US airlines give out eye masks on their domestic red-eye flights?
Do you have to ask for them, or do they just offer them? |
None at all. Bring your own or buy at airport.
|
Actually, that's not true. I know that JetBlue gives them out if you are flying an overnight long-distance flight from west to east. Not sure about other routes.

"<i>Which (if any) US airlines give out eye masks on their domestic red-eye flights?

As Doug notes, JetBlue is the only one that gives them out for free. They also provide earplugs.
That being said, the throw-away masks you get on an airline are usually uncomfortable. I prefer to spend $10 every so often on a good pair. The comfort difference is big enough that I bring my own pair, even when flying internationally in a premium cabin where they will give me an eye mask. |
janisj—Obviously I wanted to know and figured Fodorites could help answer the question, or I would not have asked. I certainly do not choose airlines based on whether or not they give out eye masks. Please do not be judgmental.
travelgourmet—Actually, one time when I flew KLM they gave out a mask that I felt was not at all uncomfortable. Thanks Doug and travelgourmet for your answers. I had read that JetBlue gave them out on eastbound red-eye flights but did not know if anyone else did. |

Judgmental? I merely asked 'Why does it matter?' . . . Maybe you collect airline memorabilia - and a jetBlue eye shade is missing from your collection??? I have a few I could send you. |
janisj—
Sorry. I read "why does it matter?" as "that's a stupid question", not "why do you ask?". |
TJ MAXX has great comfortable eye masks for around $10USD.

Get the kind of eye mask that has "bubbles" over the eye area so that you can blink without difficulty.
