DH and I have opposite aisle seats on our upcoming TED flight to San Juan from OHare. There are no upgrade seats on TED, so we feel we will be more comfy in aisle seats. I think it will work out just fine.

I'm almost 6' (I'm not too WIDE for the seats) so my problem is leg room. We are in Econ Plus so there will be a little bit more room.

Gardyloo,
I believe UA gives miles for the extra seat. I know AS and DL don't.

Saw this thread on the US board:

If you use them, I think your neighbor may keep clear of you and your armrest. ;)

Once again, rkkwan, no idea that most of the world can't afford business or first class. And that doesn't mean automatically that coach should be painful and coach travelers have no right to complain, either.

Me? :) Hm, let me check... I've flown around the world for 34 years. Never bought a ticket that's not economy. Op-uped to domestic F once, in 1984. Op-uped to international business once, around 1990. All other flights in coach.

Somehow I can't remember a single incident I have with any seatmate (other than Fodorite "yk"). Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe...

But anyways, I will start researching for a thread titled "Why you should always fly First/Business Class". Hehehe. ;)

This is one of the reasons why I like United's practice of blocking the middle seat next to Premiers (and up). This, of course, is never guaranteed, and when the flight is full those seats will be taken - but when it works out, it's a nice benefit. I've had empty middle seats next to me on four of my last five flights in UA economy, including an 8 1/2 hour Chicago-Honolulu flight.
