Question on my AA mileage accural
About 2 weeks ago (<b>prior</b> to Oct 1), I was scheduled to fly in economy on AA metal ZRH-JFK.
My flight was canceled, and I was rebooked on BA ZRH-LHR (Y booking code) then AA LHR-JFK. The LHR-JFK segment (3452 miles) was posted immediately on the following day, but as of today, still no posting on the ZRH-LHR segment that I flew on BA. I checked my BA boarding pass: it has my AA FF# printed on it. Based on this http://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/pa...ishAirways.jsp I should be eligible to earn miles (100%) on the BA flight, right? Should I wait a bit longer to see if it gets posted, or should I send AA a flight credit request? Another point I'm confused regarding BA flights is that do I get 100% bonus miles (I'm PLT)? I checked and see that ZRH/LHR is about 480 miles. Adding that to 3452 = 3932 miles. ZRH-JFK nonstop is 3931 miles, so I don't see the point of requesting AA to give me original routing credit at this point, unless I'm not eligible to earn the 100% bonus miles on the BA segment. I'm not concerned about EQM for these flights; I'm dropping down to Gold in the upcoming year regardless. |
It can take several weeks for the miles from the BA portion of your flight to appear in your AA BA FF account. Case in point, two years ago we flew a couple of legs on BA on an around the world trip - our miles for these flights didn't show up on our AA FF account for about 6 weeks.
I'd give it more time but you should retain your boarding pass just in case you have to make a claim. |
Ditto.
If you come up short, phone Aadvantage Customer Service and ask for "original mileage credit" - which they'll promptly give you, including Plat bonus. |
Do either of you know if I'm supposed to get 100% elite bonus miles on top of base miles for the BA segment, as a PLT?

This page only says after 10/1. But you flew just before that. |
No Plat bonus for any BA-numbered flights flown prior to 1 October 2010. 100% Plat bonus after that date.
However because your re-route on BA was due to AA not being able to fly you ZRH-JFK, you should get your Plat bonus on all segments, either ZRH-JFK for original route credit, or ZRH-LHR-JFK, for the actual flown trip. FWIW, going via LHR adds a whopping eleven miles to the total. Go crazy. |
