Question about Star Alliance lounge access

I have a Star Alliance Gold card - when I fly Air NZ from Perth to Auckland or SQ from Perth to Singapore, regardless of which class I'm flying, I have access to a lounge in the Perth airport.

This time I'm flying from Perth to Sydney and then on to Christchurch from there.

It's all on one ticket purchased through Air NZ, but the flight to Sydney is on Virgin Australia, the flight to Christchurch is on Air NZ.

I'm assuming I won't have access to the lounge in Perth as its a domestic flight to Sydney, but will I have access in Sydney for the international portion?

Any help appreciated.

If it's a Star Alliance ticket, you should have lounge access. I have used the United Lounge and US Airways (back before the merger with American) for domestic flights.

Your situation seems a bit odd, but I don't see why Air NZ would not let you use their lounge.

It's an Air NZ ticket, but I'll be checking in with Virgin Australia. Virgin Australia is a codeshare partner with Air NZ on some flights within Australia.

I've never been able to access a lounge when flying domestically within the US on an economy class ticket, so I assume it's the same here.

VA's website lists United as a partner, but the Star Alliance website doesn't list VA as a member. I guess all I can do is ask when I get there.

Mel - on the domestic portion of an international itinerary you can access the Star Alliance club with your *G card.

Thank you Seamus, that's what I was hoping to hear.

Well, there was only one lounge in the entire Perth domestic airport and it was Virgin Australia. I asked, but they wouldn't let me in. In fact, she seemed confused about my Star Alliance Gold card. Oh well. I did get into the Air NZ Lounge in SYD though.
